Isla Tortuga
We took a day trip to Isla Tortuga while staying in Santa Teresa, and it was well worth the money — this should be on everyone's list. You can also reach the island from the mainland at places like Jaco. The snorkeling was decent, but being on the island is the best part; honestly, I wish we'd had the whole day there, and next time we'd book a private boat to do that.
The beach is gorgeous, the water is clear, and the vibe is chill. Get a coco loco and a piña colada in a pineapple. For such a touristy island trip, we were surprised the prices for drinks and activities were fair, and our tour included a local-cuisine lunch.
